PGY3 Family Medicine / Emergency Medicine Program

PGY3 Family Medicine/Emergency Medicine Program

This program which incorporates the facilities of St. Joseph’s Health Centre, London Health Sciences Centre-Victoria and University Hospitals and a variety of community/regional hospitals will allow the successful candidate to be accomplished in all facets required by the physician who plans to make Emergency Medicine a significant part of his/her practice.

Rotations
The year is comprised of thirteen 4 week blocks as follows:

Adult Emergency

  • Urban Stream – Three 4 week blocks at LSHC
  • Rural/Regional Stream – One 4 week block at LHSC

Community Based Adult Emergency (see our SWOMEN locations listed below)

  • Urban Stream – One 4 week block at a regional hospital
  • Rural/Regional Stream –Three 4 week blocks at a regional hospital

Pediatric Emergency – one 4 week block

Pediatric ICU or a second month of Pediatric Emergency – one 4 week block

Plastics/HULC – one 4 week block

CCTC – two 4 week blocks

CCU – one 4 week block

Ortho Hybrid – one 4 week block

Anaesthesia (Optional) – one 4 week block

Elective – one 4 week block

  • Toxicology, Baltimore Trauma and others as determine by the individual resident (1 block)
  • ½ day horizontal electives available in Family Medicine, Sports Medicine, etc.

There are also weekly core content seminars scheduled to cover relevant clinical material.
